From canning to composting, gardening, and animal husbandry to working together as a family and building community, The Big Move is not just an enjoyable story for the whole family, but also a handbook that teaches the reader by immersing them in the characters’ experiences of learning practical skills that promote strong households as well as community-collaboration.
The heroes of this book are regular folks like you and me that due to a change in life circumstances begin to experience the value of bringing their family experiences back home.
When all else has failed, the Wister Family begins to bring everything in their life back to basics and back home again in order to build a new life for themselves. About the author
Sarah Smith is a homesteading wife and mother living in North Carolina. For 15 years she has specialized in education in urban and rural agriculture and soil science. She currently homesteads and homeschools with her husband and three boys on her 93 acre farm. In her spare time can be found milking her goats or cows, working in her garden, or like Sadie, making jam.
